The Government of Tamil Nadu has made some important amendments to the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishments Act and Rules.
As per Government Order (G.O) Ms. No. 54 and 55, there are now specific requirements for different types of establishments:
- Every new establishment with 10 or more workers must now register.

Establishments with less than 10 workers must inform the Labour Inspector.

Existing establishments with 10 or more workers must provide details to the Inspector, who will then issue a Registration Certificate.
