In Circular No. Exem/10(20)/2016/Vol – III/10735 dated 29th September 2017 field offices were advised to identify the establishments who have failed to file the returns online and issue show cause notice to all defaulting establishments for cancellation of exemptions.
In the attached circular dated 09th October 2017 procedure has been detailed to be followed by field offices for issuance of show-cause notice in case of establishments who have defaulted in filing of on line returns.
Establishments are sincerely advised to ensure that filing of on line returns is being done and if they have been facing any technical issues than they must contact their regional offices immediately to have the issue resolved. Please ensure to notify the department immediately, if not done earlier, both by way of email and by way of letter along with the screen shots about the technical challenges being faced. Please also ensure to do a follow up with reminder at short intervals in the same fashion. This will help to get into discussion with EPFO, if any show cause notice is being issued for cancellation of exemption by field offices
We have connected with technical department (NDC) and as per them there may be some lack of knowledge with the establishments to fill in the information but at the end of EPFO everything is working fine.
